October 2017

Tracy Haycox is pictured here receiving a cheque from Graham Hudson on behalf of Safe@Last, the Dinnington based charity which provides support to young runaways and their families in the area, alongside a schools education programme.

On Thursday 19 October a group of Club Members and guests visited the Toyota Manufacturing Plant in Derby. As the photo shows we travelled there in style in a Mercedes coach with very modest illuminations!

Emma Varnom went to the bowling alley before attending the club meeting yesterday evening. She was there to hand over a cheque from Sitwell Rotary Club to the Rotherham Branch of the National Autistic Society.

Joe Walker of People In Need Worldwide, here receiving a cheque from Graham Hudson on behalf of Sitwell Rotary Club.
Joe, and his charity partner Danny Thompson, have been visiting Romania for over twenty years, helping to provide opportunity
for disadvantaged and disabled young people. They have provided several sensory units, rebuilt a number of community buildings,

President Elect Mel took charge of her first club meeting last week. Good fun, hardly any formality at all, and two surprise items.
The first, seeing Peter Keary drinking water! He claimed to be on antibiotics, having been bitten?? How dare an insect attack him!

An inspirational true story of polio, paralysis and love without limits is hitting the big screens this month.

Breathe follows adventurous and charismatic Robin Cavendish (Andrew Garfield), who has his whole life ahead of him when he is paralysed by polio whilst in Africa.

It’s always a pleasure – and of course a source of pride – when visitors make significant efforts to join us for any meeting but particularly our Charter Night. This was very much the case on our 2017 Charter Night on 31st August 2017. We received an excellent and highly amusing vote of thanks from Geoffrey Harbord, formerly of Rotherham Sitwell but now Abbeydale Rotary Club.

President Andrew Bates presenting Music in the Gardens to the District Confrence

This last weekend was our District’s annual conference, held in Llandudno. Lots of good speakers, and an opportunity to meet friends from other clubs.
